A treatment with Sally lasts about one hour. It involves time for diagnosis, then approximately 20 minutes of acupuncture followed by a ten minute remedial massage.
Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnoses according to inbalances of qi, blood and body fluids as well as dysharmony in energies like heat, cold, damp, wind and dryness.
Sally directs her attention to the complete physiological and psychological presentation of a person. In making a diagnosis Sally asks questions about the complaint and other associated symptoms. She feels the pulse which is an integral part of chinese medical diagnosis, looks at the tongue and palpates areas of pain or discomfort. She also makes observations from facial diagnosis, body stance, movements and behaviour to make a truly wholistic diagnosis. Illness is thus situated in the context of a person’s life and biography. So when a person has a complaint or illness, Sally embraces the philosophy of chinese medical diagnosis, that no single part can be understood except in it’s relation to the whole person. She also refers to clients’ blood pathology and scans to aid the diagnosis.
